I banked happily with Reelfoot for several years, but when they were bought out by Security Bank and Trust the shady stuff started happening. I went to my local branch in Martin when I got notice in the mail about the changes. I was assured that in my category there would be no new charges. However, my wife and I were switched in the a premium checking with a 7$ a month charge on the fourth of July without notice! When we went to complain and close our accounts they were unable to help us at first because of some system change over and eventually they closed us out but without being able to tell us what the last posted check was. Some of this was on me for not being especially vigilant, but there is no reason to charge for a basic checking account and no excuse for not being able to give immediate access and information to an account holder 's money!
