This place is an absolute joke of a company. The people working in the front have no clue about rental laws or anything helpful. You will not get your full deposit back, no matter what you do. The list of things we got charged for is insane. You get charged for damages that were there already and overcharged for everything on top of it. You'll be charged for things that aren't in the lease. They'll break their own lease as well. The owner of this place is absolute joke as well. The most unprofessional, cowardly woman you'll meet. You have to be a real scumbag to take advantage of college students. I hope this place gets shut down and bankrupted. If I could give it a 0 I would.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! I read the terrible reviews before I moved to Martin but I was desperate for a place to stay and the prices were cheap. Well there was a reason for that. It is truly a shame that a company like this is in the great town of Martin. This company is all about the money, not the customer. When I moved in I could tell that the apartment was not cleaned very well. I did have to break my lease because of a sudden job change, and they told me I was going to lose my security deposit. Understandable. I paid for the entire month of rent and they said they would be paying me back the rent because someone else was moving in. When I got the check, I barely received any money back. Cleaning fees were taking out, and bogus charges were taken out for things that were like that when I moved in. It was an old building and they charged me for things like rust on the toilet. I have heard nightmares from many people that say they charge a ton for cleaning fees then never go in and clean it. Save your money and do not rent from these people!
Utter Mess! They will pull hidden fees out of a hat and try to force you to pay. You can clean your place top and bottom but they will MIRACULOUSLY "discover" something to add fees to and make you foot the bill. They are indeed a money hungry business who treat people like scum. You can be the most polite, as I were, but get rude and unbothered comments said to you. This place was my LAST resort & was warned several times NOT to do business with them. I wanted to give them the benefit of a doubt but now I see firsthand how they really are to tenants who actually follow the rules. Management is VERY rude and unprofessional. I look forward to going to court with ALL my documentations of the frivolous shenanigans they try to pull on people. I had to move due to job relocation & they gotten rude about me giving them well enough notice of my vacancy & all of a sudden trying to charge me outrageous "fees" that seem to have come out of thin air. So, I warn anyone who may even waste a millisecond on thinking this is a great place to do business to quickly IGNORE this business. I strongly recommend Fuller Partners!! I'll be filing a complaint with BBB!
A cross between the Krusty Krab and the Chum Bucket. Crappy places to live for good prices, but they literally charge you for everything you do wrong. It's a money laundering scheme.
The City of Martin should be ashamed of letting this business continue to run as is.
The properties Martin Rentals own are old and disgusting. You would think with all the money they take in off of desperate college students, they could update these units, but no. I didn't expect much, living in a college town, but I cannot tell you how many units I've been to and been horrified at how gross the units were, and this is coming from someone has lived in a disgusting, run-down mobile home.
EVERY SINGLE time I have gone to the front office, it is staffed by bored employees who play on their phones, sigh constantly whenever you ask them a question, and just in general make it known that they don't want to be there and that they don't want to deal with you. The very first time I ever experienced this company, I was giving my friend a ride there to pay her rent. These people snapped at her and scowled! Keep in mind, they knew at this point I wasn't even renting from them; if you're trying to run a business and make money, then why would you act this way to your own consumers, let alone potential renters?
Forget getting your deposit back. I have yet to meet one person who got theirs back, despite doing everything they should have to earn it. They will find SOME way to wiggle out of it.
People claiming that the complaints are from ignorant and irresponsible college kids are wrong (that, or they must be Martin Rental employees making fake reviews). You might could say that is true for some of them, but certainly not all of them. I've had friends there were smart, good people who knew how to pay their rent on time (and did), who kept their places clean, and did everything right, yet they were still treated poorly and taken advantage of.
It turns out the horror stories were true. In my years at Martin, I have witnessed rude, unprofessional, and down right scammy behavior from this company. Allow me to give you a few examples:
The reality is that Martin Rentals does not give a crap about their renters because they have a monopoly on the apartments in Martin. They know desperate and poor college students have almost no choice of where they rent from. There is only one other rental provider out here, and their units go quickly since everyone wants them over terrible Martin Rentals.
I have heard so many horror stories of this place, but I just chalked it up to people over exaggerating or not being responsible for their mistakes. After all, this is a college town, and many students will be first time apartment renters, so I do expect some people to not read the fine print or take care of their place as well as they should. However, I am an older adult who has dealt with renting before, so I know how to read the fine print, what questions to ask, how to ensure I get my deposit back, etc. The point is, I am not some ignorant teenager that is throwing a hissy fit.
Why does the City of Martin let this go on? We're a small town and we should be looking for ways to attract potential students to our university, not ways to push them away. Do you really think, in this digital day and age, that students are gong to want to come here when they see all these horror stories about the apartment selection?
And why is it that every unit tends to have a bug problem? The place I'm living at (thankfully NOT from Martin Rentals) has never had a bug problem because they actually spray for bugs every couple of months. Not so with Martin Rentals. Even when my friends would keep their place spotless with no food or anything left out, there were still so many bugs.
